When Klaus Obermeyer founded Sport Obermeyer in 1947, he was an Aspen Mountain ski instructor
with a very simple goal. “Students were cold, their boots didn't fit and nothing worked,”
he recalls. “To me, skiing is freedom. I wanted to help others be warm and comfortable so they
could enjoy it as much as me.”

Obermeyer maintains a long-standing history of high-performance winter clothing and accessories. For
over sixty years innovation, technical excellence, and quality have driven Klaus Obermeyer, founder
since 1947, to produce apparel which allows everyone to be warm, dry and comfortable in the winter.
Obermeyer was born of necessity when Klaus was a ski instructor and his students would get cold and
wet during their lessons. Today, Obermeyer continues to run as a family business with constant forward
thinking always evolving to be on the leading edge.
