Obermeyer Works Hard and Plays Hard
One of the many perks of working in a ski town with a company founder who loves skiing is our Powder Rule! If more than 6” of snow falls overnight, our employees get the morning off to go skiing… no questions asked. Klaus’ famous yodel is played across local Aspen radio stations in the morning so we know that 6” or more snow fell overnight.
Having our office across the street from one of Aspen Snowmass’ four mountains makes it easy to sneak some runs in during our lunch breaks. A few full-time employees locked in around 100 days this past season! In the spring, summer and fall, we have hiking and biking trails at our fingertips for a quick work out.
The Rocky Mountains offer up the best conditions to test our ski wear in the elements, whether a blinding snowstorm or a scorching spring day on corn snow. Our product development team lives right here, so testing our gear at one of the four local mountains is easy. Each garment tested is put through the ringer to meet our standards for performance and style.
Employee Commuter Program
Reducing our carbon footprint Obermeyer employees are encouraged to minimize their commuting impact by using public transportation, carpooling, walking and riding bikes to work. Our staff members have won several awards for engaging in alternative forms of transportation and, in conjunction with the national Transportation Options Program, many have been awarded certificates for regional commuter-of-the-year. This wasn’t hard to achieve… we love our pristine valley. Once we began our individual participation, company-wide involvement became infectious. Soon everyone was feeling the camaraderie and now, a carbon-free culture is becoming a reality.
