Hydro Power and Our Carbon OffsetA five-megawatt hydroelectric plant, built and run by Obermeyer on the Vallecito Reservoir in Southwest Colorado, provides a sustainable source for green power for homes and businesses throughout the region. Since it’s beginning in 1989, it has produced an average of over 20 million KWH of green power annually. The triple turbine design has enabled Vallecito to maintain a near 100 percent reliability rating while fully utilizing peak production loads during the summer months. Obermeyer is proud of its success at Vallecito and intends to continue its role as a provider of reliable and sustainable green power for the long term. |
