The solar trombe wall on the Obermeyer south-facing warehouse wall in Aspen ensures year round energy efficiency.
A History Sustainable Building PracticesWhen Klaus designed and built our current home offices in 1980 his goal was simple and nowadays elegant: To design and build the most energy efficient building possible with the most current technology and materials available. A below grade first floor stabilizes interior temperatures while ten foot overhangs allow winter sun in for solar gain and shade it in the summer. The warehouse incorporates a passive trombe wall and our swimming pool is 100% solar heated. Our 100,00 square foot distribution center in Denver is grounding-breaking in energy efficiency: it features a unique passive air exchange system which eliminates the need for air conditioning, even on 100 degree plus days. |
